Nogomet

Nogomet is the term used in various languages, including Croatian and Serbian, to refer to the sport known as football or soccer in English. It is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each, where the objective is to score goals by getting a ball into the opposing team’s net. The game is played on a rectangular field with a goal at each end, and players primarily use their feet to move the ball, although they can use other parts of their bodies except for the arms and hands (the goalkeeper is an exception).

Nogomet is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game, established by the International Football Association Board (IFAB). The sport is widely popular globally and has a rich history, with numerous professional leagues and international competitions, such as the FIFA World Cup, UEFA European Championship, and others. It is recognized for its ability to foster teamwork, strategic thinking, and physical fitness among players. In many countries, nogomet holds significant cultural importance and is a key aspect of local and national identity.
